Doubao, DeepSeek and Xiaomi move on products and chips
China’s AI compute news was led by product launches, pricing changes and fresh chip updates, with Doubao, DeepSeek and Xiaomi all in view.
• Doubao’s team is expected to launch a standalone office product as soon as next week, positioning it against Tencent’s WorkBuddy.
• DeepSeek changed its API billing so Saturdays and Sundays are charged at the off-peak rate all day.
• Xiaomi said its phone division will hold a Xuanjie chip technical briefing tomorrow, 459 days after the first flagship Xuanjie processor was unveiled; Xiaomi also said the Xuanjie O1 chip has passed one million cumulative shipments across three devices.
• An OpenAI-backed U.S. startup, Harvey, said its new legal model Harvey Tenet was post-trained on Moonshot AI’s open-weight Kimi K3, highlighting continued use of Chinese open models abroad.
• NVIDIA is reportedly investing $6 billion in Poolside to develop an AI model that can compete with DeepSeek and Kimi K3.
• Weekly AI application updates also said Tesla China’s in-car system has integrated Doubao.
