China AI model rollouts and infrastructure demand pick up

Chinese AI firms and state-backed users moved on model funding, enterprise deployment and compute-linked infrastructure, while chip and data-center supply chains saw fresh product and investment activity.

• Kuaishou’s Kling received a 1.4 billion yuan investment from a national fund and was valued at $18 billion.

• Tencent launched a financial-services version of WorkBuddy that cut credit due diligence from 10 days to one day, and Beijing universities rolled out AI study companions and computing-power accounts.

• Shanghai’s state assets regulator said supervised firms have now extended AI coverage across all firms and are shifting from compute supply alone toward compute networking, core technology breakthroughs and real-world use cases.

• China Unicom said its self-developed anti-fraud large model helped local police identify and dismantle fraud-linked VOIP equipment in Fushun.

• UGREEN entered the AIoT market with its HomeAgent hub, whose top configuration uses NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor T5000.

• Nubia said all NaviX Ultra models will start with 512GB of storage, with partners including CXMT and Samsung Semiconductor and the Doubao mobile assistant onboard.

• GenStorAIGE launched its PCIe Gen6 retimer GE6216 for AI server backplanes and cable interconnects, targeting GPUs, NVMe SSDs and CXL expansion.

• BYD said energy storage demand should keep growing with AI data centers, while rapid data-center growth is also pushing cooling and power issues higher on the agenda.
