Funding, memory and model-chip adaptation lead China AI compute news

China’s AI compute updates centered on model releases, infrastructure financing, domestic chip validation, memory supply and data-center power demand.

• Alibaba’s Qwen team open-sourced Qwen-Image-2.1, a 7-billion-parameter image model that supports text-to-image generation, image editing, transparent images and up to 10 reference images; Montage Technology said it completed Day 0 adaptation for the model.

• SiliconFlow completed the second tranche of its Series B+ financing and its Series C round, bringing 2026 equity financing close to 2.9 billion yuan, with funds earmarked for inference engines, heterogeneous compute scheduling, model-chip adaptation, its Token supply platform and global expansion.

• Loongson’s 3A6000 (C) and 3C3000 CPUs and Huawei’s Kunpeng 950 CPUs passed China’s Security and Reliability Level III certification, while Hygon said it will launch its 1000-series CPUs on Sept. 22 for physical-world applications.

• ChangXin Memory Technologies began mass production on its fifth-generation technology platform, raising wafer output by more than 50% under equivalent conditions, and its 24GB LPDDR5X product has entered full mass production for China’s mainstream flagship smartphones.

• China Telecom AI Technology released the Xing4.0-29B-A4B coding agent model, and Huawei said it was the first domestic tens-of-billions-parameter model trained on an Ascend Atlas 900 A3 SuperPoD liquid-cooled supernode and the MindSpore framework.

• Weichai Power said global data-center construction and AI compute demand are driving rapid growth in backup-power demand, with more than 1,400 data-center diesel generators sold in the first half of 2026, already exceeding its full-year 2025 total.

• AI server demand is tightening supply of high-capacity MLCC components, with some spot prices rising several times and reported price increases for AI-server MLCCs following notices from major overseas suppliers.

• China launched nine satellites on Sept. 20, including Pengcheng’s first integrated sensing, communications and computing technology-validation satellite and the Super Computing Power-1 satellite, with all payloads entering their planned orbits.
